  • Child-rearing support café LOCO

    Child-rearing support cafe LOCO is located on the 2nd floor of Ekimachi Terrace Nagahama which is directly connected to Nagahama Station. Two moms launched this place in 2015 as a community cafe where children can easily gather based on desire of “I wish there was such a place”. Now they are actively engaged activities of child-rearing support, work / living support together with cafe sales. It is also attracting attention as a base for disseminating various information such as local events and childcare.

  • Yanmar Museum

    The Yanmar Museum opened in 2013 in Nagahama-shi, the birth place of Yanmar’s founder, Magokichi Yamaoka. Based on the concept of “Let’s try! Waku Waku Future Challenge”, you can challenge the content related to Yanmer products such as a story theater that introduces Mr. Magokichi Yamaoka’s challenging spirit, a booth where you can virtually experience agriculture and fishing, and a simulator for operating pleasure boats and construction machinery. This place is a challenge museum where you can learn while seeing, touching, and experiencing.

  • Kurokabe Square

    This place is a tourist spot that taking advantage of traditional buildings in the old town of Nagahama. Glass studios, experience classrooms, cafes, restaurants, select shops, etc. are gathering in this place. There is the retro wooden Western style building in center of town, formerly known as the Kurokabe Bank, which was reborn as the Kurokabe Glass Shop in 1989. Modern interiors, tableware, seasonal accessories, and usual accessories are exhibited and sold inside of building. (※ Currently, the Kurokabe Glass Shop is under seismic retrofitting. It will be reopened in late March 2021.)

    96 CAFE is a stylish casual cafe with large terrace seats located in front of the Kurokabe Glass shop. We treat it is important to hope — that you can relax and have a good time.     I want to connect people’s hearts in Nagahama and brew local sake of local culture. With that in mind, Mr. Takashi Sato, the owner of the company, whose parents’ house used to be a brewery, decided to start a brewing company again. Sato Sake Brewing Co., Ltd. was born in Spring of 2011. In the rich nature surrounded by Mt. Ibuki, one of the 100 famous mountains in Japan, and Lake Biwa, the sake carefully produced using high quality “water” and “rice” is loved by not only locals but also many sake fans.

    The long-established Japanese confectionery store Tomoe Japanese Confectionery was founded in 1932 (Showa 7) around Ado River, which is blessed with the Hira Mountains and the magnificent Lake Biwa.     A blown glass workshop is in the place where the Daido River flows and the idyllic rural scenery spreads. “imeca” is an upside-down reading of Akemi Kaminaga’s name. Originally this name was given to a cup presented by a friend, it was due to the playfulness of friend.
